VAGOS

The municipality of Vagos has a vast natural and historical diversity, being home to three traditions in danger of extinction – watermills, windmills, and Arte Xávega.

Watermills can be seen along the Boco River valley, and the windmills still have traces of the mechanical gear that produced the flour used to make bread.

The Arte Xávega can still be seen on the beach, being a form of artisanal coastal trawl fishing that uses characteristic boats.

The most famous dish in Vagos is the eel stew. Also, the bivalves mollusks, fish, and dishes inspired by the sea are very common, as well as the suckling pig, influenced by Bairrada. Regarding sweets, it is mandatory to mention the pumpkin porridges.
