Ovar is the museum city of Azulejo, with numerous examples of this type of art in the streets.

It combines this history and tradition with a diverse natural landscape of estuary, sea, and forest.

With 60 km of cycle paths, 6 km of walkways, and many footpaths, it is possible to discover the municipality and its small ecosystems, fauna, and flora, which promotes physical activity and outdoor sports.

There are still companies of Arte Xávega (an artisanal method of trawl fishing) in the region keeping the tradition alive.

Regarding its gastronomy, the highlight is mainly one – the traditional sponge cake from Ovar. For savory dishes, fish, eel stew, and “rojões” are the most popular.
